A startup called Zhonghao Xinying, founded by ex-Google TPU engineer Yanggong Yifan, claims its new “Ghana” TPU is 1.5× faster than Nvidia’s A100, and 42% more power efficient.

It’s built with no foreign IP or software, signaling a serious push for AI silicon independence in China amid GPU export controls and sanctions.
