The pool is said to equal about 10% of the company at a reported $500B October 2025 valuation. OpenAI has already issued about $80B of vested equity, and that plus the new pool totals about 26% of the company.

The rapid expansion of electricity in 1949, the Apollo Moon Landing project, and the Interstate Highway system in the 1960s each represented 0.6% of GDP. The Manhattan Project to develop the first atomic weapons in the 1940s totaled 0.4% of GDP.

A new study in Nature introduces SleepFM, a foundation model trained on 585,000 hours of polysomnography (PSG) from 65,000 participants. Unlike previous AI that only stages sleep or detects apnea, SleepFM creates a general sleep embedding from a single night of data.

• PSG captures brain, heart, muscle, and breathing signals during sleep.
• SleepFM resamples signals to 128 Hz, splits them into 5-second tokens, uses 1D convolutions, and pools channels via attention before a transformer summarizes the full night.
