Anthropic cut off OpenAI’s access to Claude through Anthropic’s application programming interface on Friday. The company said the move was because OpenAI was “using our coding tools ahead of the launch of GPT-5,” in violation of Anthropic’s terms of services, which prohibit using Anthropic’s AI technology to develop competing AI models, according to an Anthropic spokesperson.
