📈 US technology CapEx spend has been massive:
In 2025, tech CapEx as a % of GDP nearly matched the COMBINED scale of the largest capital projects of the 20th century. This comes as Big Tech CapEx rose to 1.9% of GDP last year.
By comparison, nationwide broadband development at the beginning of the century made up 1.2% of GDP. The rapid expansion of electricity in 1949, the Apollo Moon Landing project, and the Interstate Highway system in the 1960s each represented 0.6% of GDP. The Manhattan Project to develop the first atomic weapons in the 1940s totaled 0.4% of GDP.

🔥 Next year will be particularly exciting because China will adopt its next Five-Year Plan in 2026 - and its all about AI:
China's Five-Year Plans are strategic documents of the Chinese Communist Party that outline economic and social development over a five-year period. The current 14th Plan (2021-2025) focuses on the "dual circulation" strategy (domestic and foreign trade), while the upcoming 15th Plan (2026-2030), currently being drafted, will place a stronger emphasis on high-quality growth and technological independence (semiconductors, AI).

📈 Key Takeaways on GPT-5.2 Performance
• Top-tier performance in professional tasks: GPT-5.2 delivered 70.9% on GDPVal well ahead of Opus 4.5’s 60% making it the strongest model for office-style, knowledge-work evaluations.
• Coding improvements, but not the leader: The model shows major gains in software development benchmarks, though it still trails Opus 4.5 slightly in pure coding depth and execution.
• Best-to-date reduction in hallucinations: GPT-5.2 shows the strongest reliability improvements so far. While cross-model comparisons are tricky, its hallucination rate appears significantly

⚡️ AI development won’t slow down, geopolitical pressures are driving an acceleration
The recent moves by OpenAI, DeepSeek, and others show that AI is no longer just a tech race, it’s a geopolitical power struggle. Halting progress isn’t an option, because the stakes include military advantage, economic dominance, and global influence.
— The US maintains an edge through massive capital investment in data centers, enabling faster training, larger models, and more efficient inference.
— China responds by optimizing for efficiency and creativity, producing models that are cheaper to train but s
