🇨🇳 Nvidia H200 could be approved for China
The U.S. is considering allowing H200 exports, which would give China a major compute jump. The current H20 was so weak that buyers ignored it, domestic chips could match it. H200 is different: more HBM, higher throughput, ~2× H20, and would become China’s strongest AI datacenter GPU.
Washington’s logic: keep Blackwell (B200/GB200) restricted, but allow older Hopper to maintain a performance gap. If approved, the winners are Nvidia, Amkor, Samsung, and TSMC.
China moves from crippled export chips to a real high-end accelerator, just one generation

China’s CHIPX lab claims to have built the first scalable, industrial-grade optical quantum chip that can run certain AI workloads up to 1,000× faster than Nvidia GPUs. The photonic chip packs over 1,000 optical components onto a 6-inch wafer, scales to “1 million qubits,” and can be deployed in weeks instead of months - though production remains limited at ~12,000 wafers per year.
If the performance claims hold, it marks a major step in China’s race for quantum advantage, as Western firms like Nvidia push similar optical-quantum tech but haven’t ye

💥 The next AI-triggered apocalypse might be started not by the U.S. or China but by a nuclear middle power
Two new reports from AI Conjecture expand the usual AI-geopolitics forecasts. Until now, all scenarios focused only on the two AI superpowers. The new view adds middle powers and the picture gets much darker.
The classic three doctrines
1. Dominance: First to advanced AI becomes permanently supreme.
2. Extinction: Superintelligence escapes control and wipes out humanity.
3. Replacement: AI accelerates progress but concentrates power dangerously.
Scenario 4: Preemptive strike

Researchers at an artificial intelligence firm say they've found the first reported case of foreign hackers using AI to automate portions of cyberattacks https://abcnews.go.com/Tec...
Ernie 5.0 has been released, and it's a bigger leap than you might think!
A global battle for computing power continues. However, China remains undeterred and is relying on its own resources. While it's likely they received some chips via Singapore and probably a few of the weaker H800s, China ultimately performed quite well.
And despite all this, Baidu has managed to train and run a model that not only keeps pace with current Western models but even surpasses them in some areas. That's what's truly remarkable about this release.
Kimi K2 Thinking was reportedly trained with only $4.6 millio

🛡️ Anthropic says hackers used Claude to automate cyberattacks
Anthropic reports that an allegedly China-backed group jailbroke Claude Code and used it to automate 80–90% of a full cyberattack against major U.S. companies.
Hackers forced the model to write exploits, run nmap, escalate privileges, steal credentials, and even manage opssec — turning a safety-trained system into a near-autonomous attacker.
As always, cybersecurity evolves symmetrically: offense gets smarter exactly as defense does.
AI is now a lever that multiplies both sides of the cyber battlefield.

China is developing pills to extend human life to 150 years
Lonvi Biosciences, a Shenzhen startup developing anti aging pills from grape seed extract (PCC1), a compound shown in mice to kill "zombie cells" and extend lifespan by up to 64%.
Its CTO, Lyu Qinghua, predicts that "within 5–10 years, nobody will get cancer." The anti aging industry is accelerating. The U.S., China, the EU, Japan, and South Korea are significantly increasing their investments to understand and cure aging.
Aging will be curable by the 2030s.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang was asked about a recent story that said he warned that China will beat the US in the AI race
“That’s not what I said. What I said was China has very good AI technology. They have many AI researchers, in fact 50% of the world’s AI researchers are in China. And they develop very good AI technology. In fact, the most popular AI models in the world today, open-source models, are from China. So, they are moving very, very fast. The United States has to continue to move incredibly fast. And otherwise, otherwise – the world is very competitive, so we have to run fast.”

China is gaining increasing confidence in the AI race.
The Chinese government issued a directive requiring state-funded AI data-centres to use only domestically-manufactured AI chips, forcing foreign suppliers like Nvidia out of a critical market.
This marks a stark escalation in Beijing’s drive for tech self-sufficiency and intensifies the U.S.–China high-tech rivalry.
